Home Buyer Tax Credit update
As is often the case, misinformation can make a wave when it shouldn’t be a ripple. I heard two people discussing today the ending the the Home Buyer Tax Credit. They were saying that it ended March 31, which is wrong. The Eugene/Springfield, Lane County, Oregon real estate market has been benefited by the extension of the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit and expansion to the “move-up” home buyers. Yes, it is still a question as to whether or not the Congress will extend the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit. Hopefully we will know soon. Right now, we are waiting for the House to pass something and then for a conference committee to find common ground on what, if any, extension will be coming through and then for the President to sign the new legislation. What is the cost of creating or saving a job?
I subscribe to Barry Habib’s Mortgage Market Guide and he has often given me some insight into what is happening in the mortgage market that I was unable to find elsewhere. Today’s installment had some very interesting numbers having to do with the Stimulus Plan and the creation of jobs (and/or the saving of jobs.)
