Taxes, 1099 and Taylor Bean & Whitaker

Those that follow my post know that I refinanced last year with Taylor Bean and Whitaker (TBW) on a VA ARM. It was shortly after that TBW was closed by HUD for problems with their lending policies. My loan was taken over by Bank of America and I had some difficulty finding out what to do with my payment. On January 1, the new 2010 Good Faith Estimate came into being amid a lot of hoopla and consternation. Now that it is here, many people don’t know exactly what it does and doesn’t do for the consumer and how it will effect and what affect it will have on Realtors®. This is a major change in RESPA (Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act). Home Buyer Tax Credit update

As is often the case, misinformation can make a wave when it shouldn’t be a ripple. I heard two people discussing today the ending the the Home Buyer Tax Credit. They were saying that it ended March 31, which is wrong. The Eugene/Springfield, Lane County, Oregon real estate market has been benefited by the extension of the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit and expansion to the “move-up” home buyers. Those tax credits are available to qualified buyers on accepted offers until April 30 on purchases that close on or before June 30, 2010. Read More
