Blogging for fun and profit

Author: I blog for two reasons. The first on is pretty simple. I think I have something to say and want to share it with a lot of people. After being in the mortgage loan business for about 20 years, I have developed a certain amount of expertise in my field and feel that one of the best uses of that knowledge and expertise is through one of my blog outlets. So, that is number one.
Number two is what helps support number one. I am in the mortgage business to make a living at my chosen profession. I post blogs to share information and also develop interest in what I do with people that want to finance a home, either purchase or refinance. It is this way that I am able to support myself and continue sharing information with my readers.
This week, I got a call from someone interested in getting a streamline VA refinance loan. Of course, I am more than happy to help them and the big point in this, is that they found me through my blog posts. I have three separate blogs that I own, http://eugeneloanguy.com, http://fhaloansoregon.com, and http://no-money-down-usda-mortgage.com beside belonging to www.positiverealestateprofessionals.com and www.myfhamortgageblog.com where I also post articles in a multi user environment. There are other places that I post, Active Rain, WannaNetwork, Blogger, and Neighborhood Expert Online, but I concentrate on the first five.
It took some time working with Danny Thornton and Rich Dansereau at www.RandDArt.com to develop my websites to where they are today, but the effort was well worth the results. Fred, well said. And thanks for the plugs as well. I am baffled that people still do not believe that business can be derived from blogging. Too many times do I hear that it is a waste of time. With that said, I think that not having a blog is a waste of time.
