Real Estate and Mortgage People Need Not Apply
I enjoy Google. I have alerts set for several specific groups of words, including Eugene Mortgage. With no more specification than that, I often get alerts when someone named Eugene gets a mortgage so I am never surprised when I get something that really doesn’t have anything to do with what I am actually looking for, but today’s surprised me.
My Google Blog Alert for Mortgage Eugene took me to a website that lists jobs, specifically ones in Eugene in the Pharmaceutical Sales category. Now, I am not in the market for a new job, I really enjoy what I do and have survived the worst part (hopefully) of the market melt down. However, I know there are a number of my former colleagues that are looking for new positions, but those from the mortgage field and from the Real Estate sales field can’t get this job. Overall, I have a lot of respect for most of them. Some of them needed to find other fields, but overall, we have lost a lot of good people too.
So, I was a bit surprised when I read what had caused this alert. In the middle of the advertisement for a sales person, was this:
Also, please note that the company Does Not unfortunately, hire from the Mortgage, Insurance, or Real Estate Industries. Candidates with these backgrounds, need not apply.
This kind of brought an old memory from school. There were signs posted in windows in the New England area around the turn of the last century that simply said NINA. A year ago what would have stood for no income, no asset loans. At that time, it meant “no Irish need apply.” So, I guess the new one is NREMINA, no real estate, mortgage or insurance need apply. Strange details in a strange universe. Personally, I think they are missing out on some really great people, but it is their company, and their choice. Well, that is my minor rant for today.
